Archive #9: Hello, My Name Is Looptron. Incept Date: 27/01/08.

Seemed like the obvious choice to start the debut EP. Has more E-Bow and Stylophone compared to the original live version.

Archive #6: Hello, My Name Is Looptron (Original Version). Incept Date: 05/08/07.

At some point in August 2007 Looptron went very swiftly from a theoretical construct to something that had to be giggable in 6 weeks time. And this is pretty much the first thing that fell out of the live rig I’d set up using various soft synths and nice sampled Fender Rhodes I found.

This one’s for all you lovers out there…

The skinny.

Hello, my name is Looptron. (But my mum calls me Neil.) There seems to be an influx of people arriving here from all sorts of places lately so here’s the skinny:

  • Looptron is an electronic music thing that happens very occasionally. The three Looptron EPs I’ve released are available for free/pay what you like here and on Bandcamp and there’s a shedload of demos, experiments and curios here and on Soundcloud. A very limited number of CDs (remember those?) of the first EP Obsolete Before You Start are available from CD Baby. The music is also available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Last.fm, etc, if that’s your preferred route.
  • On Twitter I am @looptron, there is a Facebook page here and a Google+ page there and the site you’re currently on dresses up and goes to Tumblr bars at the weekends. This is the sum total of the effort I’m prepared to put into shameless promo-whoring my social media strategy.
  • I also participate in rock/blues/squelch noises with Des and Mart as Superhet Deceiver. As the Superhet Twitter feed (@superhetdec) is an amalgam of mine, Des and Mart’s twitter feeds you may have arrived here from there.
  • There is a blog. This frequently has nothing to do with music, electronic or otherwise, but given how easy it is to post crap on the interweb from your phone while drunk it takes up an increasingly big chunk of the site.
  • Musical things I’ve encountered that I enjoy are in the Listening Room. Suggestions welcome - get in touch.
  • RSS, whatevs.
  • There’s actually a mailing list that hasn’t been used in years, although I have Plans. Oh yes.
  • If you want to get in touch ask a question or drop me a mail.

Looptron is a sort of electronic music type thing that happens sometimes. It's mainly a bloke called Neil Sharkey and a machine without a heart. Although sometimes other people help.

Looptron music is available from Bandcamp (free download/pay what you like EPs), Soundcloud (free downloads, demos, rarities), Spotify (stream for free), Last.fm, iTunes, Amazon (US), Amazon (UK), Rhapsody and others.

If you like what you hear you can stalk looptron on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ or subscribe to get infrequent email goodness below.

Question? Just ask.
